Pastor Rob and his family joined the EBBC Family in the spring of 2009.  Pastor Rob’s journey to the East Coast started a few years back…on the West Coast.  Rob’s father was a pastor and church planter in California when Rob was born.  When he was ten, his family moved to Nashville, Tennessee and this would be home for him, his parents and four brothers and sisters. It was the clear witness of Godly parents that lead Rob to trust Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 12.  Kneeling at his bedside with his father, he prayed a simple prayer that would lead not only to his salvation but ultimately to his call to ministry.  

After graduating from high school, Rob attended Belmont University in Nashville, later transferring to Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  At Samford, Rob received his BA in Psychology and met Vicki Hensley who would become the love of his life.  Vicki and Rob were married a few months after graduation and a year later he enrolled in New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) where he received his Master of Divinity degree.  His time in New Orleans would hone skills and crystallize focus for the preaching/pastoring ministry that would include ministry on five continents. 

A few short months after graduation from NOBTS, the Rob and his family moved to the Low-Country which has now been home for them since 1982.  After a 24 year Pastorate in Hanahan/North Charleston and five years as Pastor of Worship and Missions in the area, Pastor Rob and family landed at Edisto Island in 2009.  Rob and Vicki have four children, (Megan, Michael, Mark and Mackenzie) and four grandchildren.  A significant part of Rob’s ministry has always included his wife Vicki.  Vicki is on the Leadership Team for two strategic organizations; First Place for Health, and Body and Soul Fitness.  These two entities, with offices in Texas and Maryland, allow Vicki to influence, equip, and encourage people in the areas of Wellness and Fitness.  Pastor Rob’s approach to church health includes a deep conviction that as people of faith we must be vitally connected to God, regularly in the Word, and personally engaged in God’s plan for world redemption.   

Our Worship Leader, Wendell Barnhill, modestly relates that he was born into a musical family and "I guess I inherited some talent."  Our congregation and frequent visitors wholeheartedly agree!

Wendell can't remember when there was no music in his life.  He also can't remember not going to church.  "There were always choirs, ensembles, duets, quartets, and such, since childhood at Charleston Heights Baptist Church.  However, in 1970, things changed in my life.  I learned about the Lordship of Jesus Christ and surrendered my life to Him on January 29, 1971."

Wendell's passion for music led him to take voice and conducting lessons.  He furthered his musical education at Baptist College of Charleston and Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly.  Since then he has served many churches in the Charleston area in a bi-vocational capacity.

Wendell and his wife Sandra have been serving EBBC since November 2010.  All who know Wendell appreciate his warm sense of humor, patience, and love for Christ.

Kristina Crosby - Youth Leader

Kristina grew up in Walterboro, SC and attended Shiloh Baptist Church where her father is the pastor. It was there that she accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord at the age of eight and progressively grew to love him more through the encouragement of her family and church.  She is currently a senior at Charleston Southern University studying Psychology and Sociology.  Her hobbies include singing, swing dancing, hanging with her friends and family, and various crafts.  During high school she taught youth group Bible study and discovered her passion for teaching and leading Bible studies.  She has really enjoyed working with the youth this summer and is thrilled to be back working with them for the school year!  Kristina's heart is burdened for our community in Christ and is very passionate about helping youth learn about the grace that God has given us through Jesus Christ. Kristina is so excited about having the privilege to work with the youth on the Island and watch them grow in Him. If you are looking to get involved with the youth, please contact Kristina.
